Last month, Althea Korea launched an addition to Althea Exclusives called the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser. As part of Althea Angels, each time they send a product, they would also email additional information about it. At that time, I was in Japan for a vacation so, I wasn’t able to check my emails right away. As soon as I came back from my almost two weeks of holiday, I opened my Althea box containing the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser along with the Stay Fresh Body Sparkling Mist. Not knowing what it was and without checking my emails, I immediately tried it as a serum. Lol, I know it was so funny how I applied it right after I toned my face. Crazy, right?
Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser
Please take note that this is NOT a serum nor a toner. I don’t want you to make the same mistake as I did. (How embarrassing! Lol) The Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser is a cleanser with a serum-like formula which helps remove dirt, makeup, and oil from the skin. I love how this product combines the benefits of a serum and a cleanser that is great for deep cleansing your skin.
It comes in this 150ml clear aqua colored bottle with a white cap. I am not sure if I just received a somewhat defective bottle cap, but mine does not fully close which is why it leaks.
Mint Leaf Extract
Jojoba Seed Oil
Tea Tree Leaf Extract
It has this very mild fresh scent which I like. Probably, it is the mint and tea tree leaf extract which contributes to its scent.
How to use the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser?
First, pour an adequate amount on your palm and massage the product on your face for 5 to 10 seconds depending on how you want to use it. You can use it to remove makeup or any excess oil and dirt. Rinse it off with water and use any other facial cleanser you use at the moment.
My experience using the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser
After making that mistake of using it a serum, of course, I didn’t do it again. I tried it for more or less than a week both as a makeup remover and as a cleanser. Thus, I like to use the Pore Purifying Serum Cleanser more as a makeup remover than as a cleanser. As you can see in this photo below, it did a great job in cleansing my face. Since it’s a serum-like formula, it feels like the product stays on my skin. It is very mild, but I still prefer my cleansers to have that squeaky clean finish which unfortunately the product didn’t have.
With all honesty, it is not something I like to use as my daily cleanser. For some reason, each time I use it, I notice how some areas of my face dry up which is quite odd since it should keep my skin moisturized. Since I have a combination of dry and oily skin, I’m not sure if there’s anything in the ingredients which causes my skin to dry. Nevertheless, I will still definitely use it again to remove my makeup followed by whatever facial cleanser I’m using at the moment.
I’m pretty sure Althea Korea can still improve on this product since it is still very new. Also, please take note that it may not work for me as a cleanser, but it can work for you and vice-versa. It depends on your skin type or skin condition.
