My obsession with Korean skincare products has started ever since I’ve gone to South Korea last Spring this year which I have mentioned many, many times on my blog posts already. As most of you all know, Althea is a popular digital destination for Korean beauty products. Just last year, they have launched their limited edition Althea Beauty boxes which are specially curated by their fairy team. Sounds magical, isn’t it?
Each Althea Beauty Boxes are based on specific themes providing us with some of the most well-loved and new favorite beauty products. Each box contains 5 to 12 FULL-SIZE products depending on the theme and value. Unlike the other subscription boxes, these Althea Beauty Boxes do not require you to commit and pay for a specially curated box every month. You may purchase a limited edition box only if you’re interested to try out the products that are included. So, no pressure! Hence, once a box has been released, make sure to decide and make a purchase as quickly as possible as these boxes are only limited in quantity.
This is my first Althea Beauty Box, and so far, I’m very happy with everything that’s in it! As you can already tell, I got this Born This Way Box which aims for a baby soft skin. This box contains up to P,6690 worth of items, hence, you may purchase this box for only P1,370! Yup, that’s a total of 79% off!
First of all, I love its green tea scent which is not too overwhelming. The cleanser itself doesn’t feel harsh on the skin which is one of the things I like among my facial cleansers. I use this to wash my face in the morning and at night. When I notice some tiny bumps on my nose area such as blackheads, I use this cleansing foam with a facial cleansing brush to in a way eliminate them. I love how my skin feels so soft and refreshed after using this cleanser. Also, it feels squeaky clean after every wash!
After washing and toning my face, I then start to apply my essence, serum and eye cream. For hot days, I usually skip my usual moisturizer which is really suited for dry skin. What I love about this product is that it’s really light and it gets easily absorbed by my skin after I pat it on my face and neck. And can you believe that this product provides the effect of emulsion and toner at the same time? I’ve tried using it for a week or so without using any other moisturizer, and for someone who has a dry skin like me, I’m glad that my skin has been moisturized all day long. A well-nourished and moisturized skin means less fine lines and wrinkles which is most likely what I’ve been working on for the past few months now.
Lately, I’ve been so much into day creams which leave my skin a matte finish. So just as I was researching more about this product, I’ve discovered what that powdery finish is called through the www.stylenanda.com website and it is the Smart-fade proof formula! I’m so obsessed with it, I swear! My skin is a combination of oily and dry, so most of the time I would refrain myself from using any matte product as to how it can get my skin so dry. Yet, at the same time, I get too oily, too. (So, ano na di ba? San na ko lulugar, teh? Haha!) So, I highly suggest looking for products with the Smart-fade proof formula if you have a combination of oily and dry skin too. Trust me, you’ll going to love it, and that’s for sure.
Anyway, I use this to prep my skin right after applying my skincare products and before applying my makeup. I would only use a pea size amount of the product and evenly apply it on my entire face and focus on my T-zone areas. I always love its powdery and soft matte finish which makes my skin feel so soft with the feeling of dryness at all.
Lesson learned it’s always better to make a research about the product first before using it. As I first checked out this product, its box packaging was mostly written in Korean so I don’t understand even a single thing. As I turned the lid to open, I saw the puff and immediately tried it on my face. I didn’t notice any changes so I opted to open the inner lid and tried to dip the puff onto the loose powder directly. Ugh! *facepalm* How silly of me to do that, how embarrassing.
Right after that, I realized that it wasn’t supposed to be like that. So anyway, I used it on my face and I love how mattifying and soft it makes my skin looks and feels like. It was really good for everyday use since it’s all natural as well as very gentle on the skin. Hence, sometimes, I notice how it starts to cake especially right after I have applied my sunblock.
One of the best Korean makeup secrets is to apply the same shade of eyeshadow and blusher to achieve a fresh and young-looking finish. I love how natural this shade is and is perfect for a no-makeup – makeup look which is quite popular these days too. I mostly use it as my eyeshadow to add a little color for my everyday look. I would do my usual winged liner and apply a black mascara, and that’s it. I’m good to go! 😉

I finally had my new favorite tint which I use every single time I leave the house. It instantly brightens my face without putting so much makeup on. I just literally apply this on my lips and on my cheeks as well as a little bit across my nose to achieve that popular drunk blush look. Hihi! So far, I would only use a lip balm once right before I apply this on my lips, and when I had to reapply there’s no need to reapply some lip balm anymore as my lips.
